On this page you will find the list of the best music finder apps for Android to identify song in your area.

Music Finder apps answer one of the most common questions "Which music is this?" When music is in your area.

What is more interesting is that you can even find a song by nummering the melody on a song recognition app such as Google app - Hum to search. Cool right?

Now let's discover the best apps to identify music in your area.

List Of Best Song Finder Apps For Android

  • Shazam
  • SoundHound
  • Music Recognition
  • Musixmatch
  • Genius
  • Google app – search a song

1. Shazam

Shazam is undoubted the most popular music finder app on the Google Play store.

The app is great for identifying any playing music from a radio, movies and even a song playing from a distance, as long as you can hear it, Shazam can find it.

The app has a simple 3-panel interface and provides information of a song, lyrics and the video once identified.

The app also lets you open any song directly in Spotify, Apple Music or Google Play Music and add it to your playlist.

The app comes with several cool features to help you identify a song playing around you.

There’s a pop-up feature that helps you recognizes songs while using other apps and my favourite feature, the offline mode which identifies music once you’re online.

With the offline mode / offline Shazam, you don’t have to worry about not having data to find a song.

Although it is a very popular song recognition app, it’s still not really good at finding a song by humming or by singing a part you remember.

Also, you can listen to the song’s preview on Shazam and is completely free to download Shazam on the Google Play store.

2. SoundHound

SoundHound is another popular music recognition app for Android.

Unlike Shazam, this app not only helps you discover songs that are playing, but it also lets you find songs just by humming the tune or singing a part of it that is stuck in your head.

It also offers a karaoke-like feature that lets you sing along while displaying the lyrics on your mobile screen.

The app comes with YouTube music integration allowing you to play discovered music’s directly from the app.

You can also link your Spotify account and stream music directly from the app.

You can automatically add discovered songs to your Spotify playlist and even search for song lyrics separately.

It has a simple interface as well and is free to download SoundHound on the Google Play store, however, it contains ads. You can subscribe to the premium version of the app to get rid of ads.

3. Music Recognition

The music recognition app is one of the most accurate song finder app available on the Google Play store.

It is very fast in recognizing songs and plays a preview of the song for you.

You can link your Spotify or Deezer account to listen to a full song once identified and the app also comes with a hypnotic visualizer and flash party mode feature that gives you a soothing vibe when playing the song.

This app also fetches the artist bio and you can learn more about his/her top songs.

Like Shazam, it also grabs the music video from YouTube for you.

The music recognition app has a nice interface, easy to use and free to download on google playstore, however, it has a premium subscription if you want to get rid of ads.

4. Musixmatch

Unlike the above song finder apps we’ve discussed, Musixmatch is aimed at fetching the lyrics of any song you play. However, it does a pretty amazing job at identifying music too.

You can add your Spotify account to this app and add identified songs to your playlist like other song recognition apps.

Musixmatch. It also comes with YouTube integration which allows you to watch the video of the identified music.

One of the features I love about the app is the Lyrics Card feature which allows you to create a Card with words extracted from a song.

It is free to download musicmatch on Google playstore, contains ads and even available for Android wear and TVs.

The premium version, however, comes with some extra features like Party mode – you can sing along to any song, offline lyrics – you can view lyrics offline once you’ve already viewed it over a connection and lastly, no ads.

5. Genius

Genius – song lyrics and more is a similar app to Musixmatch.

It can easily and quickly find lyrics of songs playing near you as well as identify songs in seconds.

The app offers some unique features such as entertainment news, celebrity gist and a wide video library.

It also comes with a built-in video player that lets you watch the identified music videos without leaving the app.

Genius is one of the best song finder apps without a doubt and has a great design.

You can as well download lyrics for offline view and view top charts.

It is free to download genius on the Google Play store and contains ads, but of course, you can always get rid of that if you don’t want it with the premium app.

6. Google App – Search A Song

Google keeps adding new features to its product which is normal to deliver a better and more friendly experience for users.

Amongst some of the new updates, Google introduces to the Google app is the search a song feature integrated into the Google Assistant.

This feature work like every other song finder app, it helps you identify a song by listening to the tune or you can just hum the song to Google and get the details of the song.

The company offers exclusive music identifying feature to its Pixel devices called Now Playing.

This option can be enabled in your sound settings if you own a Pixel device and helps you identify playing songs near you.

The Google App offer one of the best methods of identifying music playing around you and doesn’t require you to download as it comes preinstalled on all Android device.

Which Music Recognition App Is The Best?

Every song finder app we’ve mentioned in this post does an amazing job, the best app, however, would depend on what you describe as best.

For me, Shazam is the best music recognition app and although it doesn’t feature humming and finding songs by you singing it, I have Google app to take care of that.

I find myself using Shazam more even though I have the Google app. Some of these apps also offer music streaming apps features.
