The Federal Government has announced the opening of 8000+ NIN registration centers in all states to speed up the NIN registration process and make it easier for the Nigerian community.
According to news reports, about 200 organizations, states, and institutions licensed by the federal government for NIN registration exercises should start working immediately and the registration center is expected to provide a boost for NIMC's registration of Nigerians for NIN, then link the NIN number with the SIM card.
The report also revealed that around 50 million Nigerians are registered and each has a national identification number (NIN), while others are not yet registered.
“Most of them started this week. All they need to do is get the system and start registration. Basically, like we did at NIMC, they should have signed up to support FG in the process.

Currently, there are more than 1000 centers. The arrival of the new centers will increase the number to around 10,000 for easy registration access. The centers will be available this week. There is no time left, the remaining six weeks are almost here, but we believe we can do it.
With the understanding of Nigerians, we will convey the support of telecommunications companies and other institutions, ”said Kayode Adegoke, NIMC Head of Corporate Communications.
Adegoke also noted that among the 200 states declared authorized to set up registration centers were the states of Lagos, Borno, Oyo, and Osun. Other agencies such as the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the National Population Commission (NPC) will also register citizens for the number.

The spokesman also noted that one telecommunications company last week secured a large amount of equipment to be deployed for registration starting this week. The telecom company is likely Airtel NG, having been granted a license to register Nigerians with NIN in December last year, so it makes a lot of sense.
Three other operators could also start participating in the process, Adegoke hinted. Check out the NIN registration centers in your state and diaspora here.
